We experienced some good warm weather in Johannesburg this weekend. Hopefully this is the start of Spring with many more warm days, backless clothing, crop tops and long leisurely lunches on the porche!

Beautiful Winter
This year has flown by so quickly, can you believe its July already. It dawned on me that soon it will be Summer, the weather will be unbearably hot and the nights will be mosquito infested. I want to really enjoy what is left of Winter - the chill in the air won't be there for much longer. Soon layering will be a thing of the past, sleeping in will be close to impossible. No more complaining about the about the cold; instead I will layer and keep the red cappuccinos close by.
About my hair
I attempted the high afro puff - I think I just managed a puff. Because of the very coarse texture of my 4c hair I couldn't get the puff to be as high as I wanted. I have been keeping my hair moisturized with deep conditioning treatments every two weeks, for locking in the moisture I use sheer butter and black castor oil. I have done minimal protective styling during this winter - my hair doesn't respond well to weeks upon weeks of braids.

SA Fashion week is one of the most exciting events in the Jo'bug fashion calendar. Fashionistas from every corner of this great city come out to play in their Sunday best. The city is abuzz with excitement and anticipation. This year's fashion week is no different; fashionable people.. check, sparkling drinks on hand.. check, wonderful friends.. check and check, and of course the blazing hot clothes on the runway..double check. What is the fuss with fashion week you may ask? Picture this 10 minutes of gorgeous garments coming down the runway to music blasting so loud you worry a little about your hearing- yet somehow you and your friends understand each other perfectly on what your favourite looks and the misses are. You have the rare opportunity to do the best window shopping possible on exquisite models that seem to glide down the catwalk giving you the first glimpse of the seasons must haves. It is exhilarating!
The shows we saw: Black Coffee- solid designer with lots of practical clothes for the girl on the go with impeccable craftsmanship. I loved the well tailored jackets and the interesting bird and eye prints.
Gert Johan Coetzee- This designer makes clothes for women- sexy, confident, sophisticated women. Whether you are going to the office, the beach or an evening event; Gert has the ability to make you look like a million bucks. He used gorgeous models with curves - and we got to see just how flattering and sexy the clothes are on girls that look like us normal people.. almost look like us.

Summer Bliss
We are blessed with long hot Summer days in Jo'burg. They have proved very inspirational to many a wardrobe..flow-wy garments that are as light as air, loose fitting frocks and delicious prints to complement the sun are the order of the day.
