Revenge

Great tv series are an obsession of mine- once I fall in love with a show, I have to watch every episode ever made back to back..without pause. Today I am sharing my crazy love for Revenge- Ok so this show is a bit on the soapie side. Great looking people, diabolical plots or revenge and elaborate plans of murder- everything a good soapie needs. 

The show is loosely based on the Count of Monte Christo- the plot revolves around Emily Thorne whose father was framed for multiple murder by of the most powerful family in the Hamptons the Graystons. Emily the picture of perfection spends her days trying to get the Graystons back for what they did to her father, first on her plan is to marry their beloved son Daniel. Trust me its good stuff.

The show is on season 3- seasons 1 and 2 have Ashely Madekwe as a social climbing wanna be rich assistant to the Graystons. 

Beautiful Kydd!

I know I have blogged about young Carrie Bradshaw from the Carrie diaries before; what I neglected to mention was Carrie's boyfriend Sebastian Kydd. I will not say much, except do control yourself as you droll over these photos. *Sigh*

As I panickly perused through Google, desperately trying to find a photo that captures Sebastian I realized that no such photo exists..you really have to see him in motion. If this doesn't get you to watch the Carrie diaries nothing will. Season 1 is showing on Channel 113.

SCANDAL..a.k.a The Fixer

My latest tv series obsession is Scandal a.k.a. The fixer in South Africa. I haven't been this hooked on a show since The walking dead. The plot revolves around Olivia Pope an attorney running a crisis management firm that "fixes" problems from Murder to kidnapping and stealing classified government intelligence. In the mix of all the drama, Olivia is also in-love with the president of the USA who is married with children.

The show was created by Shonda Rhimes who also created Greys Anatomy. The acting and writing are both brilliant and captivating. Kerry Washington plays Olivia and is giving the performance of her life.
I am totally crushing on Olivia Pope; she's a dedicated workaholic with perfect hair and glowing skin..wonder who does her makeup...her ex boyfriend is the president of the USA and  she goes home every night to an all white apartment *Sigh*
Bellamy Young plays Melli the scorned, yet dutiful wife of the president. She is ambitious and will do anything to stay in the white house..even stay in a loveless marriage. Bellamy's performance is reverting and you just cant help but love both the wife and the mistress.

Eeeeehh...and the guy they are fighting over?...is not worth mentioning.

 The Fixer season 2 starts on M-NET Monday the 8th of May at 20:30.

The Carrie Diaries

So it would appear that before Sex and before the City there was Carrie. Leaving a normal high school life away from New York. Carrie is no ordinary high school girl, she was born with a good eye for shoes and a passion to write. Before she could afford Manolos Carrie's style may not have been designer but it was iconic even at 16 years.

The Carrie diaries looks at Carrie Bradshaw in 1985 as a senior in high school, pre Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte...and definitely pre- Big.
This show could have turned into a desperate attempt to hang on to Sex and City and maybe capitalise on our undying love for Carrie and her shoe closet, but it didn't. It really works, it is very smart and it is not hard to see why Carrie became Carrie.

If you loved older Carrie, then you will adore 16 year old Carrie. She is a little unsure of herself but you can see she is going to grow up to own one of the most envied wardrobes in television.

Pretty little liars

My obsession right now is Pretty Little Liars…an American thriller/ drama tv show about four friends living in Rosewood. The series follows the lives of Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Emily (Shay Mitchell); whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their queen bee Alison (Sasha Pieterse).One year later they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure using the name "A" who threatens to expose their secrets. 

The writing is magnificent and the plot just the right amount of thick.

My real obsession with the show is not with the thrilling writing but with Hanna. Hanna is the blonde "it girl" of the group. She used to be on Days of Lives as Abe Deveraux. She's a stylish diva on Pretty Little Liars with a wardrobe I would kill for...
This show is better that Gossip Girl...yes I said it!
