You are as important as the Stars

This blog post is inspired by my blogger friend Sam J from Frills and Thrills; every Friday she posts something inspirational on her blog. Today I woke up needing such an inspirational something.... So I decided to take a page from Sam's book and post this really wonderful poem Desderata By Max Ermann. It always seems to make me feel better about anything, no matter how awful I may perceive it to be. I hope it makes you feel better too about your "stuff" too.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

The waist coat and leather skirt

I loved wearing this look. Its a little bit serious and a little cheeky at the same time. I combined a faux leather skirt with a thrifted waist coast with gold buttons. My friend Linda did such a good job taking the photos- check out her stylish pink sandals below.

Anisa Mpungwe for Mr Price launch

Anisa Mpungwe of Loin Cloth and Ashes has collaborated with Mr Price on a limited edition collection to be sold at Mr Price stores, at Mr Price prices. I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch and preview of the collection at the Sandton city Mr Price. Having been a fan of Loin Cloth and Ashes for years, I had no doubt this collection would be beautiful- but what Anisa and Mr price presented was simple amazing. Every piece leaves you salivating, due to Anisa's amazing use of colour, print and cut. The undertones of yellow and wonderful geometric prints make the collection simply delightful. I could not resist getting myself a few pieces, my favourite being a two piece geo print suit which I can't wait to wear. I can guarantee the collection is going to sell out like hot cakes- so get to a participation Mr Price and make your selection. If you need anymore persuasion then know that a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the collection will go to the Red Cap foundation.

Levis Sandton Store re- opening

The Levi flagship store in Sandton had a re-opening on Wednesday night. The iconic brand was introducing the new concept store to a few media and fashion people. I love the fact the their focus is on shape and not size- what I love even more is that Levis realises that every woman is different and in South Africa especially a one size fits all approach does not work.

What I wore; I wore a pink double slit jacquard skirt with a denim shirt.

Feeling Blue

I have worn this skirt several times before; I just haven't had anyone to take photos. In this look I'm wearing a Faeeza Khan full skirt in geometric print- paired with a soft denim shirt and pastel blue heels.
